What actually happens in a treatment session?

People will be pleased to know that the sessions are conducted fully clothed. At the start of the session I will always run through some brief case history notes and then I will put my hands on your body in different places depending on what is felt.

Sometimes I will talk or sometimes I will be silent – there is no intrusion or probing either physically or emotionally – some people fall asleep during a treatment.

The therapist waits and listens. You might feel a quieting down, a sinking in, and a deeper awareness. The whole idea is that the therapist works with such gentleness and subtleness that the body itself can do the healing and necessary adjustments.

Craniosacral Therapy can be used to treat a vast array of pain and discomfort. It works by normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord, which enhances the body's natural ability to heal and self-correct. Therefore, this technique can be used to treat both acute and chronic pain alike.

Are there any side-effects from Craniosacral Therapy?

Usually any effects are pleasant sensations and complete relaxation.  After the session your central nervous system will continue to process over several days or weeks and it will be releasing trapped emotions, negative experiences and trauma which the body has been holding on to.

How long is a typical Craniosacral Therapy Session?

A typical session is one hour for adults and about thirty minutes for children

How many Craniosacral sessions will I need?

Accepted Answer

Every response varies from individual to individual and depending on the condition.  Every one responds differently to another being even if the condition looks similar on the surface.  Therefore the number of sessions varies – generally most people come once a week or once a month as a ‘maintenance’.

What does Craniosacral Therapy feel like?

Accepted Answer

Most people feel a profound relaxation during a treatment with some pain/symptoms being alleviated during the session.  Some people can feel sensations throughout the body, warmth, tingling, some muscle twitching, letting go and peaceful relaxation.

Is homeopathy safe?

Accepted Answer

Homeopathy is perfectly safe because homeopathic medicines are made from a very small amount of the active ingredient.  Homeopathic medicines have been practiced and researched over two hundred years and so is both safe and gentle.

They are non-addictive and have no dangerous side effects making them also suitable for children, pregnant or breast-feeding women.

Can homeopathic remedies be taken with other drugs?

There are no known reports of any cross reaction although powerful drugs such as antihistamines or steroids may slow down or negate the action of homeopathic medicines.

Do homeopathic medicines have side effects?

Accepted Answer

Generally speaking homeopathic medicines do not have side effects because their way of acting is quite different from conventional medicines.  In theory it is possible that someone particularly sensitive to a remedy could exhibit some symptoms albeit mild and advice would be to stop taking the remedy.

Is homeopathy officially regulated?

Whilst homeopathy is not currently subject to statutory regulation, doctors and other healthcare professionals who practice homeopathy are regulated by their relevant professional body – The Faculty of Homeopathy is the only body in the UK which represents medically qualified homeopaths and its members are bound to act within the competence of their profession.

Homeopaths register with the Society of Homeopaths and/or Alliance of Registered Homeopaths having undergone examinations and have requirements around competence and professional development.

What does a homeopath need to know?

The homeopath approaches a client in an holistic manner and regards the physical, emotional, mental or spiritual aspects of each person as intimately connected.

Homeopaths understand that the symptoms of a disease are evidence of the body’s natural ability to heal itself and if the vital force (immune system) is out of balance and needs support.

You will be asked detailed questions on all aspects of your life past and present and it is good to be as open and detailed as possible no matter how trivial you think things may be as they often provide great clues to the homeopath.

How soon may I be cured?

Homeopathic remedies cure the whole as opposed to the symptoms and the time it takes to cure a symptom is directly linked to the complexity of the condition presenting.  It is important to cure the cause of the illness as well as the symptoms and these may be deep rooted.
